A large-scale pool relining project has just been completed in Rondebosch, restoring a 15m x 7m gunite swimming pool that had been suffering from structural cracking and ongoing water loss.
THE JOB:
This was a large gunite pool with significant wear to the existing marbelite surface. Over time, cracks had developed, leading to continuous water leakage and an overall loss of surface integrity.
The client required a permanent solution that would restore the pool properly without the need for demolition or full reconstruction.
THE FIX:
Gibbs Pools carried out a full structural relining solution.
The entire pool was prepared and then relined using a fiberglass lining system that was bonded directly to the existing gunite shell. This creates a seamless, waterproof barrier that reinforces the structure from within.
The surface was then finished with a smooth flowcoat layer, providing a clean, durable finish designed for long-term performance of approximately 15–20 years under normal maintenance conditions.
THE PRICE:
R80,000 all-inclusive for a 15m x 7m swimming pool.
This pricing covered all required work, including preparation, crack sealing, full fiberglass relining, flowcoat finishing, and complete site cleanup. There were no hidden costs or additional charges added during the project.
WHY THIS PRICE:
Pool size plays a major role in relining costs. A 105m² surface area requires significantly more material, labour, and preparation than smaller residential pools.
