A fiberglass pool relining project has just been completed in Edgemead, restoring a smaller residential swimming pool that had developed surface failure and increasing water loss.

THE JOB:
This was an older fiberglass swimming pool showing clear signs of osmosis damage, including blistering on the surface and early-stage cracking. Over time, these defects had begun to worsen, leading to gradual water loss and a declining finish quality.
The pool required a full restoration solution to stop further deterioration and restore a smooth, watertight surface.
THE FIX:
Gibbs Pools carried out a full fiberglass restoration process.
All affected areas were ground down to remove blisters and damaged surface layers. The shell was then properly dried and treated to ensure correct bonding conditions.
A full fiberglass relining system was then applied and bonded directly to the original shell, creating a reinforced, seamless waterproof layer.
The surface was finished with a fresh flowcoat application, restoring a smooth, algae-resistant finish suitable for long-term use.
THE PRICE:
R28,575 all-inclusive for a 7m x 4m swimming pool.
This price included full preparation, surface repairs, fiberglass relining, flowcoat finishing, and complete site cleanup. No additional or hidden costs were applied during the project.
WHY THIS PRICE:
This pool measured approximately 28m², which requires significantly less material and labour compared to larger residential pools.
At Gibbs Pools, pricing is calculated per square metre to ensure fair and transparent costing based on the actual scope of work required.
