Pools are simple until they aren’t. One summer everything runs quietly, the next the level is dropping, the pump is groaning and there’s a crack creeping across the steps. We handle pool repairs across Cape Town — the whole range, from a leaking fitting to a full structural rebuild — and this page is the starting point for whichever problem has landed you here.

We are a Cape Town outfit that has worked on pools from the Northern Suburbs to the Helderberg for years, so we have seen how local pools fail: marbelite shells that chalk and crack after a decade, gunite that shifts with our winter-wet, summer-dry soil, and pumps that give up early in the salt air closer to the coast. Whatever it is, the first job is to diagnose it properly rather than sell you the biggest fix.
Our main repair services
Most jobs fall into one of a few buckets, each with a dedicated page that goes into the detail:
- Pool leak detection — pinpointing where the water is going, from shell cracks to buried plumbing, before it wastes another month of water.
- Pool relining — stripping and re-surfacing tired shells in fibreglass or marbelite for a watertight, long-lasting finish.
- Pool pump repairs — seals, bearings, impellers, capacitors and honest repair-or-replace advice.
Beyond those, we take on the general repairs that keep a pool swimmable: filter and sand-media problems, plumbing and valve replacements, light and fitting repairs, crack and structural work, coping and paving, and the tiling or waterline detail that finishes a job off. If the pool has reached the point where piecemeal repairs no longer add up, we will say so and talk you through a full renovation instead.
Structural and shell repairs
Cracks are the ones that worry people, and rightly so — but not every crack is a crisis. Surface crazing in marbelite is cosmetic; a structural crack that is losing water needs cutting out, reinforcing and sealing before any resurfacing goes over it. We check whether a crack is live or settled, repair it correctly, and only then refinish. Skipping that sequence is exactly why some pools crack again in the same spot a year later. Where the shell itself has failed across the board, relining over a properly repaired base is the durable answer, and our fibreglass relining work shows how that comes together.
Common Cape Town pool problems we fix
- Water loss and leaks — shell cracks, failed fittings, leaking skimmers and returns, underground pipe leaks.
- Rough, chalky or stained surfaces that need resurfacing or relining.
- Pumps that are noisy, leaking, tripping the board or failing to prime.
- Weak circulation, cloudy water and filters that won’t hold pressure.
- Cracked or lifting coping, loose tiles and damaged waterline detail.
- Broken lights, valves and plumbing.
Areas we cover
We repair pools right across the metro and often have dedicated local pages for the areas we work in most, including Constantia, Kuils River, Newlands, Hout Bay and Somerset West and Strand. Beyond those we cover Durbanville, Bellville, Brackenfell, Kraaifontein, Panorama, Table View, Milnerton, the City Bowl and the Atlantic Seaboard — and we travel through to George and the Garden Route for larger jobs. The full list of what we do lives on our services page.
What pool repairs cost
Honestly, it depends entirely on the fault. A pump seal or a leaking fitting is a small, same-day job. A structural crack repair, a reline or a coping replacement is a bigger investment. We would rather come out, see the pool and quote you accurately than guess — and the assessment is free. For the bigger-ticket items you can get a realistic sense of numbers from our costing guides on leak repair and pump replacement.
| Repair | Typical range (2026) | Time on site |
|---|---|---|
| Pump seal or capacitor replacement | R950 – R2,500 | Same day |
| Pool pump replacement (supplied and fitted) | R4,500 – R9,500 | Same day |
| Leak detection (full test) | R1,500 – R3,500 | Half day |
| Structural crack repair | R3,500 – R12,000 | 1 – 3 days |
| Coping or waterline tile repair | R2,500 – R15,000 | 1 – 3 days |
| Full fibreglass reline | R45,000 – R75,000 | 5 – 10 days |
Two of these deserve their own note. Routine upkeep is cheaper than repair, and our pool cleaning and maintenance service exists precisely to keep you off this table. And when several lines of it apply to one pool at once, a pool renovation is usually better value than paying for the repairs one by one.
How a repair with us works
- Free assessment. We come out, test rather than guess, and tell you what is actually wrong — including when the honest answer is “leave it”.
- Written, itemised quote. Parts, labour and timeline in writing before any work starts. No allowances for “unforeseens” padded into the number.
- The repair. Most equipment faults are fixed the same day. Structural and surface work is scheduled, weather permitting, and we protect paving and gardens while we work.
- Proof it worked. Leak repairs get re-tested, pumps get run through a full cycle, and surface work is inspected with you before we call it done.
Buying or selling a property? Our pool inspection service gives you the same diagnostic sweep as a written condition report before you commit to the purchase.

Frequently asked questions
Do you charge for a quote?
No. We assess the pool and give you a written quote at no cost, so you know exactly what you are dealing with before committing.
Can you handle both the diagnosis and the repair?
Yes. We are set up to find the fault and fix it — leaks, pumps, cracks, surfaces and plumbing all in-house rather than sending you to three different contractors.
My pool is old. Is it worth repairing or should I renovate?
If it is one or two faults, repair almost always wins. Once the shell, surface and equipment are all failing together, a renovation usually works out better value. We will give you the straight answer.
How quickly can you come out?
For urgent problems like major leaks or a dead pump we aim to get to you fast. Get in touch and we will book the soonest slot that works.
